Don, from what I can see, it looks like you've currently got a Fulton winch on your 2002 Ranger 185VS trailer. I did some poking around and I believe the Fulton F2 Fully Enclosed Trailer Winch with Strap and Adjustable Handle # FW16000101 would work great.

As long as the winch rope of the Superwinch LT3000 ATV Winch # SW1130220 has tension on it and the boat/trailer weighs less than its 3,000lb capacity you shouldn't have an issue pulling the boat in or out of the garage. You'll want to make sure that you properly mount the winch in the garage so that the weight of the boat/trailer doesn't yank the winch out while in use. I recommend using a Winch # SW39GR with the Hitch Mount # BDW20011. This way you only need a 2" receiver which is typically already on the rear of most trucks and are available for the front. It looks like your boat weighs 2,400 lbs dry and is almost 19' long so this 2-speed 3,200 lbs winch would work perfect. Hey Joe, so when picking out a winch the key to it is going with one that has at least 50 percent of the total boat's weight as winch capacity if the trailer has wooden bunks. Hey Darrel thanks for your question. Based on the specs I can find online, the 1988 Grumman Jon Boat is not a particularly heavy boat. One spec sheet even said the boat weighs only 74 lbs not including any aftermarket accessories or fuel. I do not know the exact weight of your boat but even if you are loaded with gear and fuel, I think you can definitely get away with using a light to medium duty winch.

If I'm understanding you correctly the starter solenoid # PK5231201 is not the solution to your problem. Based on what you have described, it sounds like both the breakaway battery and winch battery are hooked to the 12V power coming from your 7-way. This is what I would expect to see, and would allow for a maintenance charge on both when hooked up to the tow vehicle.
